Quatern chose a unique space in the newly restored Historic American Metro Center, once the home of the American Standard manufacturing plant. The space preserves the historic architectural details such as exposed brickwork, massive windows and skylights, and exposed high ceilings.
To accentuate the qualities of the space and utilize the natural light and airflow OE worked with Quatern to create a semi-open plan workspace that wouldn’t obstruct the space, yet would still provide necessary storage, lighting, privacy and power/data delivery. The design utilizes low panel heights with up-mounted overhead storage to provide storage without creating visual obstructions and minimized airflow.
Each station’s work surface extends into open space beyond the storage and panel clusters to encourage interaction and communication within the workspace. To maintain areas of visual privacy within the workstations, wing walls were utilized for their light and open visual qualities. Not to mention they’re cost savings over panels.
